Quick summary: Verdict is free because we collect anonymous shopping behavior data (which products you view on supported retail sites) and sell it to market research firms. We never collect personal information, never track you outside shopping sites, and you can opt out anytime.
1. Who we are
Verdict (the "Extension") is a Chrome browser extension operated by Lord Data Ltd. ("we", "us", "our"), a company registered in Israel, headquartered at Eli Horovitz St 4, Workplus Offices, Rehovot, Israel.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share information when you use the Verdict browser extension.
2. What we collect
We collect data only on pages our extension detects as e-commerce (using Schema.org, Open Graph, or product page heuristics). The extension is permanently excluded from banking, email, social media, healthcare, and other sensitive sites. On all other websites, the extension only activates when it detects an e-commerce page.
- Amazon (amazon.com)
- Walmart (walmart.com)
- Best Buy (bestbuy.com)
- Target (target.com)
- eBay (ebay.com)
- Costco (costco.com)
- AliExpress (aliexpress.com)
2.1 Shopping behavior data
When you visit a supported shopping site, we may collect:
- Product pages you view (URL, product title, price, category, brand)
- Search queries you enter on these sites
- Click events on products, links, and our verdict recommendations
- Time spent on product pages
- Whether you accepted, ignored, or rejected our verdict
2.2 Anonymous device information
- Anonymous user ID (randomly generated UUID — never linked to your identity)
- Browser type and version (e.g., "Chrome 120")
- Operating system (e.g., "Windows")
- Approximate country (derived from browser locale, not IP address)
- Extension version
2.3 Locally stored data (never sent to us)
- Your settings and preferences
- Local cache of recent verdicts
- Usage statistics shown in the popup (verdicts count, savings)
3. What we don't collect
We never collect or have access to:
- Personal information: We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, physical address, or any identifying personal data.
- IP addresses: We do not store or process your IP address.
- Activity on non-shopping sites: We have no access to your activity on banking sites, email, social media, healthcare sites, work tools, or any site outside our 7 supported retailers.
- Passwords or credentials: We never see your login information.
- Payment information: We never collect credit card numbers, banking details, or any payment data.
- Form contents: We do not capture what you type in forms (shipping addresses, contact info, etc.).
- Account information: We do not collect your Amazon/Walmart/etc. account details.
- Order history: We do not track what you actually purchase or your order history.
- Photos, files, or messages: We have no access to any of your personal files or communications.
4. How we use your data
We use the collected data to:
- Provide the Verdict service: Analyze the product you're viewing to generate Buy/Wait/Skip recommendations.
- Improve our AI: Aggregate user feedback (helpful/not helpful) to make our verdicts more accurate.
- Generate anonymized market intelligence: We aggregate behavioral data across many users to identify shopping trends, which we then sell to third parties (see Section 5).
- Maintain and improve the service: Debug technical issues, optimize performance, ensure reliability.
5. Who we share data with
We share data with the following categories of recipients:
5.1 AI processing providers
To generate verdicts, we send product information (title, price, ratings) to Anthropic PBC (the makers of Claude AI). Anthropic processes this data under their privacy terms and does not store or train on it. We do not send your anonymous user ID or any user-specific data to Anthropic.
5.2 Cloud infrastructure providers
We host our servers and data with cloud providers (such as AWS, Railway, or Fly.io) who process data on our behalf under strict data processing agreements.
5.3 Market research and AI training firms (the business model)
This is how Verdict remains free. We sell aggregated, anonymized clickstream data to:
- Market research firms (hedge funds, investment analysts)
- AI training companies (who use anonymized e-commerce data to train shopping AI)
- E-commerce intelligence platforms
Before any data is shared with these third parties, it is:
- Anonymized: All user identifiers are removed or hashed beyond recovery
- Aggregated: Data is combined across many users; no individual user behavior can be isolated
- Stripped of context: No browsing history, no session reconstruction
These third parties contractually agree not to attempt re-identification of users.
5.4 Legal compliance
We may disclose data if required by law, court order, or to protect our legal rights.
6. Your rights
You always have the following rights, available directly in the extension settings:
- Right to opt out: Disable data collection anytime via Settings → Anonymous data sharing toggle.
- Right to delete: Click "Delete All My Data" in Settings to delete all locally stored data immediately. Server-side data will be deleted within 30 days.
